Plug Valves are valves with cylindrical or conically tapered plugs that rotate inside the valve body to control the flow of fluid. The plugs contain one or more hollow passages that allow fluid to pass through when the valve is in the open position. Plug Valves are simple in design, easy to operate, and often provide a cost-effective solution for a wide range of industrial applications.
When the plug is conically tapered, the stem or handle is typically attached to the larger-diameter end of the plug. Plug Valves usually do not have bonnets; instead, the end of the plug with the handle is often exposed or partially exposed outside the valve body. In such cases, there is generally little or no separate stem. The stem and handle are commonly manufactured as a single piece, often in the form of an L-shaped handle attached directly to the plug. The opposite end of the plug is also typically exposed outside the valve body and is secured by a retaining mechanism that keeps the plug firmly in place.
